A bit about me

If you're trying to build a business that actually fits your life - you're in the right place.

Maybe you're done with the idea that success means sacrificing everything else. Maybe you're craving work that feels like you, earns real money, and doesn't require you to perform a version of yourself you've quietly outgrown. That's what I’m all about.

Hi, I’m Carly

Designer, writer, home ed mum, and gentle rebel. Fuelled by coffee and crisps, you'll usually find me cheerleading my clients, listening to a personal development podcast, unschooling my daughter, or sea swimming at the beach on my doorstep.

A decade ago I was swirling around in my office chair under the fluorescent lights above my desk, knowing I was not where I was meant to be. I was running my creative side business in the evenings and weekends while my corporate marketing job left me overworked, underpaid, and quietly convinced there had to be another way. In 2015, I’d had enough, and I quit.

It felt like glitter was shooting out of my eye sockets the moment I walked out of that office. Being my own boss meant doing work I loved, supporting incredible women, and working from my laptop from anywhere in the world. For a while, that was the dream. Until I realised I'd just recreated the same high-pressure, overachieving burnout cycle in a different outfit.

So I did something that surprised even me. I slowed down, on purpose.

I pulled my daughter out of school to home educate her. I restructured my business around our life instead of the other way around. I started asking different questions. Not how do I do more? but what actually matters?

And then my body joined the conversation too. Perimenopause arrived earlier than expected, which has a way of making the non-negotiables very clear, very fast. I'm still in it. Some days are brilliant. Some are a fog. But it's made me a better advocate for building businesses with real flexibility built in - not flexibility as a perk, but as the actual foundation.

Today, I design for brilliant brands, create content about simple living and alternative education, and help women like you figure out what they actually want to build - and then build it.

 Things that matter to me…

  • Real friends and supportive relationships

  • Working for love & not just for money

  • Experiences instead of ‘things’

  • Questioning the way things have always been done

  • Breaking generational cycles

  • Living sustainably & trying not to contribute to over-consumption

  • Flexible working for all & fair opportunities for parents

  • Listening to my intuition

  • Being near the beach/water

  • Minimal living & my capsule wardrobe

Why this work matters:

Research consistently shows that when women are educated, empowered, and supported, there are direct improvements in family wellbeing, community cohesion, and economic growth. But right now, too many women are running on empty. This is preventative work. It reduces reliance on mental health services, lowers workplace burnout, improves parenting outcomes, and increases women’s participation in purpose-led work. When we stop forcing women to choose between work and family, and instead support them to build work that integrates with both, we’re not just changing their lives - we’re changing the world they shape every day.

This isn’t just self-help. This is system change - from the inside out.

If you want the full story - I share it all over on my Substack.

You'll find my story up to now, my thoughts on home education, and a piece on perfectionism that I wrote mostly for myself, but perhaps you’ll see yourself in it too.

I wrote an album…

The Slow Rebel

A soulful journey back to self, this album explores what happens when you stop living by expectation and start choosing what feels true. It’s about slowing down, trusting your body, letting go of the “shoulds,” and designing a life that fits. My own lyrics, brought to life through AI-assisted production.

Tracks include:

Cracked in the quiet - about my journey
Wild curriculum - about homeschooling
Sponsored dreams - about growing up
Mother mirror - about motherhood
